The Includiverse team were thrilled to attend the Fulldome UK festival and present our Inclusive Immersive Smart Glasses to the participants of FDUK 2024.
Inclusive Immersive Smart Glasses
Our managing director Gareth Allen introduced Inclusive Immersive Smart Glasses to the festival. Sharing the stage with Joel Hodges from University Of Plymouth, part of our Includiverse team, they explained how the accessibility innovation could provide subtitles and captions in immersive domes and big screen entertainment venues such as cinemas making the content more accessible. They then invited conference attendees to experience the smart glasses in action, and they were a a resounding success!
We had lots of positive feedback, and people really understood what we were going for with this project. It is not only those who are Deaf or hard of hearing who can benefit from our Smart Glasses application. One participant approached Gareth and spoke about neurodiversity and how subtitles help them access content. They can also benefit people whose first language is not English.
Fulldome UK Festival Inclusivity
Festival organiser Matt Wright opened the festival by championing inclusivity, togetherness and breaking down barriers to access in a safe place. This couldn’t be more in line with the ethos that we ourselves strive for here at Includiverse. To be in a room full of other exceptionally talented creatives who share the same values was an incredible experience. FDUK bought together kindred spirits from within the UK and beyond, and the Includiverse team were very proud to have been a part of it.
Fulldome UK supports artists and creative professionals working in immersive dome environments. The annual FDUK festival has been running since 2010, and this year took place in CULTVR in Cardiff.
A massive thank you to everyone responsible for facilitating such an event – everything crossed we see you again next year!
