New Cornwall Beach Life video for Visit Cornwall

Our new Cornish Beach Life video for Visit Cornwall celebrates Cornwall’s coastline and its unique offering. The Cornish Beach Life video demonstrates the diverse and compelling activities on offer in Cornwall beyond the usual beach days out. Wild swimming features, with swimmers of all ages describing the pleasures of open water swimming in the seas around Cornwall’s extensive coastline. The swimmers featured  are part of Kernow Splash Mob, which invites people to join them in their swimming events see information on the events here.

In our new Cornish Beach Life video we also meet up with Caroline Davey from Fat Hen who describes how the ingredients for a delicious meal can be foraged from the shore line and added to locally caught spider crab. She demonstrates what plants are available to add flavour, colour and nutrition to dishes including Rock Samphire  which sells in our supermarkets for rather a lot but is readily available to foragers on the Cornish coastline. Gareth had the pleasure of tasting as well as filming the lavish meal and can testify to the benefit of foraging “one of the best meals ever”. The Fat Hen is a wild cookery school providing courses to would be foragers  and have appeared on television  nationally and internationally. Their website can be found here.

The final contributor in our fantastic Cornish Beach Life video is Paul Lewin, Artist who teaches at Newlyn School of Art. Filmed at the Cot Valley on one of those gorgeous Cornish Summer days where the sea is turquoise and the water invites you to swim, Paul taught a small group to depict the coastline in all its glory.  Painting is represented in our film but amateur and professional artists  can benefit from the courses on offer  in drawing, sculpture and pottery as well as painting. Their website details a number of courses available year round. see here
