South West Tourism awards – Soundview Sponsor Active and Sporting Awards
We know how important tourism is to the South West. That’s why we sponsor the awards each year. This year we sponsored the Active and Sporting category. From swimming with seals off the Isles of Scilly to sky diving over Wiltshire, the entrants to this category offer a broad range of exciting activities to visitors. It must have been a difficult decision to find an outright winner. Thankfully we are not involved in the judging and Gold was awarded to Loose Reins, Dorset.

2018 South West Tourism Excellence Awards
In the Excellence Awards, businesses undergo a series of rigorous assessments to see which ones will be the best. This year the total of entries were 647 and these were from as far afield as the Isles of Scilly and Wiltshire, Dorset and Gloucestershire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. Judges pore over entries, studying website and review sites, looking at social media as well as making a total of 416 business visits, most of them unannounced.
The South West Awards sees the best of the best, so to speak. The contenders have already won at a local level. In the Autumn of last year, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucester had their own Excellence Awards ceremony. Those winners are then automatically entered into the South West competition. So it’s really great to be in the room with businesses who have worked so hard to achieve excellence. And we know just how great they are. We’ve created videos for a number of the winners and can testify to the great experience that awaits visitors.
