It’s always a nerve-wracking experience being at a screening of one of your films. All the hard work that goes into production, the creativity, the collaborations, the wins, and the losses all come together at that moment on a screen in front of a live audience. At an immersive film festival such as Full Dome UK, the audience is fellow artists and film-makers so the butterflies are ramped up to eleven,
SoundView’s 360 documentary short “Green Minds” was commissioned by Real Ideas and the Green Minds project in Plymouth to celebrate and showcase the hard work of local communities who are re-wilding parts of the city, to improve our connections and interactions with nature. We’re particularly proud of this short film as it was our first proper opportunity to create a bespoke documentary-style film for the immersive dome world. It premiered at The Market Hall Dome in the Spring of 2023 to coincide with World Earth Day. To demonstrate our commitment to the environment and highlight our journey to Net Zero, we delivered the film as a certified carbon-neutral production. In short, this means we reduced the impact of the production on the climate as much as we possibly could.

This year’s Full Dome UK event was held at CultVR in Cardiff, The festival, held over two days was a mixture of screenings of dome content and talks by experts from the UK and the international immersive content community. It’s amazing to be able to attend an event like this to rub shoulders with others working in the field, share stories and see their incredible creations. Our film was one of around thirty productions chosen for screening from over a hundred entries.
The verdict, well after getting over the nerves, and hearing the audience’s positive appreciation and feedback to the film, it was great to be part of the event. We’ll be back for Full Dome 2024, of sure!
