Getting up Close With Our Furry and Not So Furry Friends

The saying goes never to work with children or animals, but here at Soundview, we like to fly in the face of convention and here's why!

Over the years, Soundview has been lucky enough to film some amazing creatures in many varied locations. In this blog post we’ve shared some stories and behind the scenes photos of some of the best of those furry and not so furry beasts!

From the smallest birds to the most ferocious tigers, we are always happy to work alongside those who know these animals best.

360 Animal Content

Before the first lockdown in 2020, Soundview worked with both Paignton and Newquay Zoo to give visitors the chance to get up close and personal with the animals in a VR headset. This became a stable of content for us during the lockdowns, as it could be shared for those missing out on visiting the attractions.

In the VR experience, the saltwater crocodiles leap out of the water to catch their prey, with the camera watching just safely above. The tigers jump up towards the tasty meal, however, they would manage to pull down the camera!

A Tasty Morsel?

There was no way of knowing how the tiger was going to react to the camera when it was in its enclosure, so we took advice from the keepers about exactly where to put it. Following their instructions, and with the big cats safe in their quarters, we were able to rig the camera, near where their food had been left.

Unfortunately, the tiger took a little too much interest in the camera and took a swipe at it, gulp! We were however able to recover it later and it had captured a great shot.

Who Can Forget the Falkland Islands

Finally to our close encounters during our time on the Falkland Islands. The islands, off the coast of South America, are an incredible haven for wildlife.  There are 5 species of penguin, albatross and elephant seals to name but a few.

During our time there working for the Falkland Islands Tourist Board, we captured stunning images of the animals in their natural habitat – an experience and a privilege we’ll never forget.
