How did I end up in a Kickstart Placement?
My coach recommended the kickstart scheme after I completed my art degree as it would be a great opportunity to gain six months of paid work experience in an industry I was interested in.
I was drawn to Soundview’s advert above others when I noticed the disability-friendly employer badge.
Even though I didn’t get the initial job I interviewed for, Gareth was impressed by me and promised to remember my name. I got a call later on in the year then started within a few weeks on another similar kickstart role.
The Present
When I first joined Soundview it became my responsibility to go through the years of video footage they had gathered, then organise it and upload it to the new server. It has been a real privilege to see the behind scenes of years worth of impressive video content, as well as some funny camera angles and bloopers.

Some of the other things I have had the opportunity to take part in have been: editing client videos, media training, networking events and even flying a drone. All of which have helped me to learn skills that will further my career.

How the Kickstart Placement has helped me.
Not only has this placement helped me gain confidence in a workplace environment, but I have also learnt tips and tricks for editing and creating content.
Being able to shadow our social media manager has also given me valuable knowledge and insight. I have found it really eye-opening to be able to take part in creating content for real-life companies.
