Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hard at work, creating a new film that celebrates the Queens Platinum Jubilee. Up and down the country, special events are running between the 2nd and the 5th of June, and we’ve played our part in one of them.
Here in Plymouth, The Box, the city’s museum and art gallery is commemorating the Jubilee with a wide range of festivities. There are loads on offer from creating your own bunting and flags to free ice cream. But the icing on the Jubilee cake must be our film on show in The Media Lab.
We have created a montage of moving images from the archive which are projected onto three walls in the gallery, telling the story of The Queen’s many visits to the South West. A truly immersive experience. A film fit for a Queen, no doubt! Please do go and check it out, entry to the museum is free.
Some of the key moments from The Queen’s visit involved opening the new council houses and civic centre back in 1962, a more recent visit to Plymouth was in 2010 to the Wrigleys factor, home to famous chewing gum. In fact, she had visited back in 1977 for her Silver Jubilee celebrations! It’s amazing how fast that time has flown to her now Platinum Jubilee.
From all of us at Soundview, congratulations to Her Majesty on her Platinum Jubilee.
