Time-lapse: Capturing the Construction of a new Pontoon

Pandora Inn is a cosy, traditional pub located in Falmouth, Cornwall. The team at Pandora Inn asked us to record a time-lapse video of their pontoon refurbishment. The pontoon allows local boats to moor and stay for a relaxing drink or meal. In their own blog post, they write about how the old pontoon had recently met it’s end. For many years it had tolerated all types of weather and the overpowering tide. Their new pontoon is a more secure solution and it’s wider walkway gives more space for visitors to relax. The removal of the old pontoon and construction of the new pontoon took only a few days to complete. Within no time the new pontoon was full of new and old visitors as they celebrated it's arrival.

Setting up the time-lapse video production

The gear we chose to use included a GoPro and one of our newest pieces of kit, the Enlaps Tikee. The Tikee has two wide-angle cameras that records for long periods of time powered by it’s own solar panel. We mounted the Enlaps and the GoPro above the entrance of the Inn to capture two angles of the pontoon. We love the beautiful sunrises and sunsets captured over the pontoon, it is our favourite perk of time-lapse video production.

Whilst Time-lapse video production may seem overwhelming it is surprisingly easy to do and the results are far worth the effort we put in beforehand. Time-lapse videos often include Chris or Gareth climbing or bending into some strange places in order to get the perfect shot, as Chris would say ” All in a days work! ” Sometimes you have to think outside the box and imagine what the audience will be seeing.

They loved the video!

The Pandora Inn team were very pleased with how we captured their amazing location and are very happy with the time-lapse videos. They were a pleasure to work with and we loved capturing beautiful footage too.
