Introducing me
I’m Chrissie and for the past week, I’ve had the pleasure of completing my work experience with Sound View Media. Soundview caught my eye as a business brimming with talent and passion. Growing up, I’ve always made half-hearted ‘short films’ and ‘music videos on my phone, so I’ve known from an early age that I was interested in the media industry.
I enjoy making short video edits on my phone of movies and series to post on social media. Besides my media-related hobbies, I also enjoy reading, playing the guitar and cooking.
I’m currently studying Media Studies at A level, alongside English Literature and Psychology – I’ve studied Media since GCSE, so it has encouraged my growing passion for the industry. Within my Media course, so far, we have produced our own short films, looked at representations like age, gender, social groups etc, researched dominant ideology and coding within Media Texts and much more.
What have I done?
During my week, I’ve gone on a plethora of shoots with the team, these included Babbacombe Theatre and Paignton Zoo. It was really interesting to come along to the shoots and see close-up behind-the-scenes action. Paignton Zoo was my favourite, as I could see what filming animals were like. This was really wild and not something I have ever done before!
Also, I was able to spend time with Chris who is an award-winning editor. As well as this, I have used some footage from my previous media coursework and “borrowed” some of Soundview’s archive footage to put together my own short film. Working alongside the team has really widened my editing and videography knowledge. I really enjoyed working here and I hope to get the opportunity again soon.
