4K video is the next step in video developments that have seen HD (high definition) replace SD (standard definition). Once SD lived up to its name (it was standard) but when HD technology took hold, SD became obsolete.
4k video comparison to HD

Although 1080 HD is still much in use, 4K video means four times better picture quality. That quality means greater resolution, more vibrant and realistic colours and greater tonal range otherwise known as High Dynamic Range.

4k video at SoundView

Soundview has invested in 4K because we understand that 4K is a way to future proof our videos. Shooting in 4K means that even our HD videos will benefit from the improved quality, no matter what device it’s viewed on.

4K also allows us greater flexibility: it means we can capture the video we need more efficiently, gives us more options for post-production and even allows us to offer stills or photographic images as part of our service.  Finally, with 4K screen technology (or UHD Ultra High Definition as it is also known) rapidly becoming mainstream, our 4K Footage will be useable for longer.

What Exactly Is 4K?

4K is a technology that quadruples the number of pixels found in a full HD picture. With 4K, pixels are usually arranged in a 4,096 x 2,160 configuration, compared with the 1920×1080 you get in a full HD TV.
What does that mean for the audience? Well, the picture is four times as clear and the viewer could be four times closer to the screen and have the same clarity as normal viewing of an HD image. By comparison to 4K, HD will appear to viewers like SD appears to us now like those older TV programmes or lower definition YouTube videos.
