The Waterfront Plymouth, an iconic venue
Perched on West Hoe and overlooking the spectacular Plymouth Sound. The Waterfront has opened its doors once more to the public. With a completely renovated interior and the addition of a new seating area, this fantastic venue holds no hint of the terrible damage it experienced in February 2014.
Storms that ravaged the coast of England and cut off rail travel into Cornwall engulfed the bar and restaurant and Plymouth’s No 1 waterside location was forced to close. Some people thought the St Austell Brewery-owned business was beyond repair.
Well, after over a year and much investment (£1 million), it has reopened – good news.
Good News Travels Fast
The building looks beautiful and Sound View Media were lucky enough to be part of the good news, creating a video to promote The Waterfront for their website and also ensuring the local ITV news had footage to show the venue in all its glory. The opening was also featured in other local TV, online and local press news because it’s such a fantastic story.
The Waterfront video features stunning aerial footage captured on a glorious Spring day, and who can fail to be impressed by both the Waterfront and the Hoe at her best. Gareth & Chris were up at the crack of dawn with our Quadcopter to capture The Waterfront in the best possible conditions. A tricky shoot as we had to fly mostly over water so there was no room for pilot error on the low sweeping shots! But well worth it as the views from up high looking over The Waterfront with Plymouth in the background are fantastic.
Irresistible
The video captures the irresistible experience of enjoying yourself, dining and drinking beside the sea, sun sparkling on the water. It features historical footage of Sir Francis Chichester returning to our shores after circumnavigating the globe single-handedly. The |Waterfront was, at that time, The Royal Western Yacht Club. Lucky for us the sea was like a glass-what better way to spend an afternoon or evening, raising a glass when the water is like glass!
