What is Wetwheels?
Wetwheels is a national charity set up in 2011 by lifelong sailor Geoff Holt. Geoff was paralysed in 1984 after a swimming accident and as a result, became a wheelchair user.
He was eager to continue with his his lifelong passion and wanted others to have the same opportunities on the water. So, Geoff set up the charity Wetwheels, which has fully accessible boats. He hoped to give people of all ages and abilities the chance to experience power boating; something they would never forget.
After initially starting out in the Solent, Wetwheels branched out to Jersey, Hamble, Whitby, Dover and now Falmouth.
Our Work with Wetwheels
We created a VR experiences back in 2020, when Covid restrictions wouldn’t allow the boats to set sail. This VR video allowed the viewer to experience Wetwheels in full, from the initial safety checks, to the full power and acceleration the boat can go once on open waters.
The launch was a great success, with press coverage from ITV Meridian and some very happy staff and students from Treloar College who got to experience the VR film first hand.
FullDome UK Event
Our film will be shown on the 10th of October at 4:30pm as well as a host of other wonderful 360 dome experiences to watch and listen to. We are very excited to have our work shown in The Market Hall again, it is such a fantastic space to showcase VR/360 based works.
Thank you to the event organisers for allowing us to show off an excellent demonstration of VR work as well as creating awareness around the Wetwheels charity.
