What is a Carbon Neutral Production?
Well, in short, we recorded our carbon footprint throughout the filmmaking process. So this is everything from the miles we travel to the waste we produced. At all times we were mindful of keeping our carbon expenditure to a minimum.
This meant taking actions like car sharing on journeys to locations, taking our own food and drink with us and bringing our waste home. Once we’d collected all this data a total carbon spending of approximately 0.1 tonnes was calculated.
We then offset this by donating to an organisation that undertakes environmental projects around the world for example planting a tree. And that’s how you gain carbon neutrality.
The certification process is accredited by an organisation called Albert – you may have seen the logo at the end of television programmes.

The film we had certified was a Box on Screen episode about the climate emergency and was made in collaboration with The Box and South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Thanks to them for their input and commitment to the production.
Finally, we’re really grateful to our Climate impact intern Kelsey Parsons who made all this possible. Kelsey was with us for three months as part of Plymouth University’s Low Carbon Devon Project. The video below is a diary of her experience with us.
This is the first of many Carbon Neutral Productions we’re planning, if you want to work with us on making positive changes happen, please get in touch.
