His work spans a career of nearly sixty years and the exhibition features significant works from portrait painting (including a portrait of Gilbert and George) to abstract images, including photographs and prints.
The video features works that are on display in the gallery with comments from visitors attending the Gerhard Richter exhibition. Largely abstract, the works are open to interpretation and the range of reactions captures this.
There are a series of events to enjoy throughout the exhibition period (until January 16 2016) that give opportunities to learn more about the artist and his work. Gerhard Richter
Living and working in post-war Dresden, he was greatly influenced by what he encountered there, saying once that
“Art is the highest form of hope”.
The artist currently lives and works in Germany and exhibits worldwide with recent exhibitions at the Tate Modern, London and The Louvre, Paris.
