Needed video surfing in Cornwall at its best and we managed to get a perfect storm of weather conditions for our latest shoot.

This year we have been treated to some good early spring sunshine and the tail end of a weather front that meant some clean sets and a light offshore wind.

Visit Cornwall Video

We have been commissioned to create some new video content for Visit Cornwall, aimed at overseas visitors. Our new watersports film took us to Newquay in Cornwall where we had perfect weather conditions for flying the drone, to capture some stunning footage of the UK’s top surfer, Luke Dillon.

Perfect Storm

For surf shoots you need a “perfect storm” of conditions, combining good ocean swell, with blue skies and light winds, not always a combination that’s easy to come by. Thankfully this did all come together in March. We spent two days filming with Luke at Cornwall’s top surf spot, Fistral Beach.

It didn’t all go according to plan at the start of the week with poor weather conditions and strong winds scuppering our attempts to get the stunning shots we needed. But by the end of the week the conditions combined to create some great filming conditions. Luke put in some epic sessions on the water, proving why he’s the best surfer in the UK.

“One of the most exciting British surfers to emerge in the last 20 years.”

We shot him from the air from the land, and even in the water with our waterproof housed cameras. This was a real treat to spend two days filming on the beach and in the water.  Luke Dillon held every national title in English & British surfing during his teens.  Luke has been awarded the honour of Surfing Ambassador for Great Britain for 2015 by Surfing Great Britain, in recognition of his outstanding achievements on the world stage promoting British surfing.

It was a real pleasure working with Luke on the shoot and we thank him for his time and effort.
