We love to repurpose things, including the saying ‘Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue’ which fits perfectly with the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park and the recent carbon neutral Albert certified video they commissioned from Soundview. The marine park is something Plymouth should be really proud of and the video celebrates their important work.

Something New
Plymouth Sound National Marine Park is the UK’s first designated national marine park. Their vision is to encourage people to become marine citizens, and for more people to benefit from, value and preserve our precious coastal environment. The launch of this project will be followed by the creation of national marine parks across the UK. Soundview were thrilled to collaborate with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park to create their video.
Something Old and Blue
The project used exclusively archival (old) film from The Box Museum in Plymouth, and b-roll, much of it our own. As well as providing context, and a creative approach, this pre-existing footage meant we minimised the carbon footprint of the project as much as possible. One of our Albert productions, we then offset any other carbon by supporting blue carbon capture. Through Albert, we invested in programmes that protect the ocean, particularly areas of coastline.

Something Borrowed
We commissioned the Plymouth’s Laureate of Words to write the inspiring words that are voiced by the young actors from the Barbican Theatre ReBels Company. We ‘borrowed’ the natural sounds of Plymouth’s beautiful marine environment to provide the a soundscape which includes waves crashing on the shore, cries of sea birds in the distance and the chatter of people of all ages enjoying the ocean.
