Immersive Film Premier
Glad rags and popcorn? Well, maybe not popcorn, but we didn’t need that to enjoy a premier screening of our new immersive film at one of the UK’s most innovative cinemas. To celebrate World Earth Day, our new mini-documentary for the Green Minds Project was shown. The 360 immersive film shows the importance of the green spaces in Plymouth and how Green Minds is ensuring we can all get the most out of the natural environments in the city. The film focuses on nature, and rewilding, and features some four-legged friends.
Contributors, Green Minds and Soundview attended the premiere. Held at The Dome at The Market Hall in Plymouth, Europe’s largest immersive cinema is 15-metre-wide and has state-of-the-art technology. It surrounds audiences with 360 vision and spatial sound. And yes, it’s as cool as it sounds!
Film: Stunning Visuals, Unique locations
The immersive film includes 360 videos captured over a period of months and includes 360 drone footage. It shows how the Green Minds project is having a positive impact Captured at four locations in the city.
One of our favourite of those locations is Poole Farm, an urban farm, in the North of Plymouth. Hemmed in by houses and highways, it’s most certainly a hidden gem. As well as rearing livestock (pigs were certainly some of the stars of the show), the Green Minds Project is also inviting wildlife back onto the farm. From pollinators and birds to beavers and otters, Poole Farm encourages them to contribute to the re-wilding of the valley.
Working with the community
But it’s not just about the wildlife, it’s about communities too. One of those communities is Keyham Scouts, with more than a hundred children who have been tasked with planting trees and learning about conservation. While learning, they’ve been earning those all-important scout badges! We interviewed them about their love for the natural environment and why looking after it is so important. And of course, their contributions were brilliant!
And we also need to mention the Eco-Warriors from Montpelier School – who turned out on a stormy afternoon to plant wild seeds in the Zoo field, in Central Park. The site of the former zoo behind Home Park stadium, it’s one of the key rewilding sites. Watching these children taking such positive action was certainly a highlight of the premier.
Carbon neutral production
Creating a documentary about wildlife and nature, it was unquestionable that it needed to be a carbon-neutral production. We are proud to say that this documentary is a certified Albert production, all offsetting costs went to replanting trees meaning that it’s 100% carbon neutral!
A big thank you to the team at Green Minds, all of the community groups who took part and the Real Ideas Organisation for making this project possible.
