Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters is a one of a kind exhibition, hosted at The Box, Plymouth, its first stop on its European tour. Soundview was once again trusted to work closely alongside the museum and document some of the highlights of its Ocean City stop.
Follow the journey and experience stories from the worlds oldest continuing culture.
Songlines is an aboriginal-led exhibition that will take visitors on a journey along the Seven Sisters dreaming tracks. With a range of mediums including ceramics, paintings and sculptures, there’s something for everyone to see. A part of this exhibition is the worlds highest-resolution travelling dome, that viewers can sit or lay down in and watch the story in this immersive experience on the ceiling above!
Being allowed to view the exhibition before the public is so exciting, being the first to capture the beauty and story of the seven sisters is a real privilege. More recently, we were invited to film a special discussion between the curators and academic professors in front of a live audience at The University of Plymouth.
Margo Neale, Senior Indigenous Curator at the National Museum of Australia was one of the speakers. She had been given special permission to travel from down under.
“This is not an art exhibition, a history exhibition, or a science exhibition. It is all of these. It is both an Australian Aboriginal exhibition and a universal story of humankind. It offers us connectivity to each other and our planet in a fragmenting world.”
Something for Everyone
The whole exhibition allows you to connect to the stories, lives and land through the power of art and culture. With more than 100 indigenous artists work on display, there is plenty to learn at The Box, Plymouth. With this being the only location in the UK that it’s touring, you don’t want to miss out.
Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters is on display from 21st October 2021 to 27th February 2022.
