South West Tourism Tops Once Again
Many of our clients are tourism destinations. So, we see first hand the quality of provision the region has to offer. And this excellence is reflected in the fact that we are home to 13 of the 53 Visit England finalists. That’s 8 more nominations than the next region, once again demonstrating the South West’s quality as a world class destination.
Winners from the South West awards are announced in February and then entered into the Visit England competition with representatives from other regions. The best of these then become finalists. So, being the top region for the 8th year in as row is big news! Robin Barker from South West awards organisers Services for Tourism, commented:
“In what is an extraordinarily difficult year for tourism and South West England it’s great to have this positive news to share. The success of these businesses – and the region as a whole – pays real testament to the innovation, passion and commitment of tourism across the South West.”
Supporting Local Tourism
And we have to agree. Covid-19 has had a major effect on tourism businesses up and down the region. Most have only recently re-opened after months of closure. We know how important tourism is to the region, it plays a huge role in the local economy. In fact, that’s one of the reasons why we sponsor the tourism awards every year. So, as visitors start to return, it’s great to know that the South West tourism tops others and has such an incredible offering. For those hoping to staycation, recognition from Visit England might just be the incentive they need. Well done to the finalists and good luck for Monday 17 August 2020, when the national winners will be announced-the best of the best, can’t wait!
