The Saying Goes Never Work With Animals or Children

At Soundview, we are lucky enough to get unique opportunities to film some really cool projects and often find ourselves looking for models. There have been many times when our own children have stepped up and got stuck in with up.

Childs Play?

Never work with animals or children is the saying, but from time to time we do both! Working with children needs special attention and  when it’s your own child you have juggle working and parenting, which as you can imagine can be tricky.

Jamie Venter, our media manager, recently took the plunge for the first time taking her son on  a shoot:

“Harvey really enjoyed it, not only did he get to go to a swimming pool but actually he was really interested in the camera too. Whenever he sees me looking at my phone he asks to see the ‘movies’ from that day. As he gets older, no doubt I will be looking back at the footage and getting emotional.”

Luckily, our children have taken to the limelight like a duck to water. It’s wonderful to be able to look back on previous video shoots and see just how much they have grown up and changed. There is something special about being able to say “That’s my boy!” when watching back clips.

Chris, our senior editor, often gets his children involved in shoots. Over the years we have had the privilege to watch them grow up. Looking back at some of our oldest footage we get to see them as infants.

“We have worked with Daddy a lot so we don’t even ask when the camera comes out now. We get to go to a lot of fun places like the beach and monkey world! ” – Alex, Chris’ son.
