Tourism Awards Season is here. Now, where is that Bow Tie?

When trees change colour and the air cools, Soundview know its time to dust down our finest outfits. Yes, it's Tourism Awards season. We'll be at three key events in the south west Tourism calendar this year: the Devon and Cornwall Tourism Awards and then in February, the creme de la creme from the two counties,  will battle it out at the South West Tourism Awards.

Devon and Cornwall Tourism Awards

For the last five years, we have supported these events. That’s because the awards  recognise excellence in the tourism industry, an industry that is at the heart of the South West economy. It takes huge dedication to achieve an award and tourism destinations throughout the region compete for recognition annually. This year has broken all previous records for numbers of entries.

This season we’re proud to be the ‘New Tourism Business’ sponsor. Each finalist has gone through a strict evaluation process. Some may even receive a visit from a ‘mystery shopper’. Then an independent panel of judges decide who will make it though. In Devon there are four finalists and in Cornwall there are three.

Cornwall Tourism Finalists

First up, on the awards season calendar are the Cornwall Awards. Held on the 7th November at the iconic Truro Cathedral, the setting is apt for an evening that recognises outstanding tourism destinations.

After a record 207 entries were received this year from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, 77 have been selected as finalists. On the 7th, they will learn whether they have won Gold, Silver or Bronze awards and we will be there to see it all unfold. Good luck to all, but particularly our category finalists. They are:

Devon Finalists

Then it’s the Devon Tourism awards on the 28th of  November. The Riviera Centre, Torquay is the venue for that evening and if previous years are anything to go by, it’s sure to be a glamorous event.

88 finalists are eagerly anticipating the outcome. Many congratulations to you all and good luck on the night. We will present the awards to our our category winners, who will be selected from the finalists:

The winners of the awards will then have a chance to compete for the best of the best in the South West Tourism Awards. And of course we’ll be there in February 2020!
