Visit Cornwall Conference – Examining Live Polling Data

At Visit Cornwall's recent marketing conference, we used a Slido within our presentation to gather information about how local tourism companies use video.

SoundView was invited to talk at the Visit Cornwall Tourism Fortnight event, discussing all things digital marketing. This was the perfect time to pitch Cornwall as a 365 day a year destination we used slido to gather extra information too.

What is Slido?

Slido is an interactive way for participants to engage with live polls, Q&A and word clouds. You can either join by scanning a QR code or by entering a keyword into the website.

The Slido integrates straight into PowerPoint and can present the live results for all to see. It is such an interesting way of interacting with your audience and getting them involved with your presentation.

How Soundview utilised Slido

Our talk included advice on  using seasonal images,  reaching international markets and unique selling points.  But we began with a simple question, do you use video in your marketing. Now, this can be using a video production company like ourselves to create bespoke videos or simply using your phone and uploading it to a social media account.

The results gave us a really interesting insight into who is using video marketing and how. Reassuringly 84% of our audience are already using video as a marketing tool, with the vast majority using different imagery for different seasons, ensuring that Cornwall is promoted as a year-round destination.

The room was split 50/50 on engaging professional videographers. We’d always advise using professionals if you can afford it. But if not, most people have a very good camera attached to their smartphones. Used thoughtfully, this can reap great results on a budget.

Our final question about marketing to overseas visitors really divided the room but revealed that most businesses are considering overseas visitors when planning their communications.

 

The engagement from the audience was fun and interesting and gave us really good insights into how local tourism businesses use video.  We look forward to using these kind of interactive tools again in future presentations.
