Visit Cornwall’s Covid 19 Video

With a quick turn around and a deadline before the Easter weekend, we created the Visit Cornwall's # Come Back Later campaign video. Just in time to grab news headlines. Entitled 'Time to Reflect', the video urged visitors to stay away from Cornwall during the Covid 19 outbreak. While showing them exactly why they should # Come Back Later.

Hitting Headlines: Our Visit Cornwall Video Production

This Visit Cornwall video production features highlights from our vast collection of  Cornwall footage. The aim was to maximise media coverage in the run up to the bank holiday. And as our background in journalism taught us, its all about getting your message across at the right time. And what an important time it was. With good weather forecast for the Easter weekend, the Visit Cornwall video urged visitors to stay at home during what is  traditionally a bumper time for visitors. News channels and broadcasters, such as BBC breakfast news, featured the video ahead of the bank holiday weekend, sharing the message that visitors should stay at home for now.

Described in the press as “moving”, millions viewed the video, and it reached out to national and international audiences across social media channels, with some amazing responses. Like this one from the Visit Cornwall facebook site:

“Thank you for your beautiful video. We had planned to come Cornwall this May for our first time, but we have had to postpone it to next year. We are so sad about that but on the other hand, we can’t wait to come and our dream come true. So stay safe and healthy. See you next year. All the best from Germany. Yours Petra and Jochen.”

Come Back Later

Currently the video sits on Visit Cornwall’s homepage, as a reminder. With its clear message to stay at home and support ‘our amazing health service’, the video asks people instead to support each other in their local communities. Featuring iconic locations across Cornwall, it states: “Our plans are on hold, our dreams are paused but good times and memories will be had again”. It ends with the promise of a “warm Cornish welcome” when visitors can return to the region. Let’s all hope that’s sooner rather later.
