Visit Devon | Capturing Summer Days

Despite the autumn weather, we are feeling positively balmy at Soundview. That's because we've been looking back at the summer. This week we are editing a series of promotional films for Visit Devon, Devon's official tourist board. That means watching all of the fantastic footage we captured on sunny summer Devon days, including this gig racing training promo above. You can almost feel the ocean spray and warm sun on your skin!

Visit Devon

Our client Visit Devon wanted films that captured the best of Devon. Their website is the first port-of-call for visitors from all over the world. They wanted a series of  films to convey the breadth of what’s on offer in this beautiful destination.  From the peace of a grand country house and garden to adrenalin-filled activities like climbing and wind surfing, Devon is a place with something for everyone. They commissioned us to make films that featured, among other attractions, the spectacular Devon coastline and unmissable icons such as Plymouth’s Hoe and Dartmoor. We created a series of two minute films as well as some  15 second promos for social media.

We’ve produced videos for Visit Devon on numerous occasions. It’s always satisfying when a client returns  and exciting to find out what their vision is. Our films celebrate Devon as a world-class destination, with breathtaking views and rich culture.

The Project

Over the summer the team shot the footage at various locations. Gareth was on hand with the drone to ensure those all important aerials, particularly great for the beach views and country estates. Chris spent many hours on or in the water, shooting gig training, foiling and  wind-surfing. While Jim pulled on his walking boots to capture Dartmoor in all of its glory. Weather is always a consideration so we waited for some fine weather opportunities to make sure that Devon looked its best. This meant some days our office was quite empty: everyone was out filming at the same time.

The beauty of these videos is  that they are ‘timeless’. Shot in 4K, the quality of the footage means they will look good for years to come.   This means Visit Devon can re-use the films  to promote Devon as a great place to visit car after year. The original footage will also sit in our growing archive of South West destination footage. We always shoot lots more than we need to. So if Visit Devon ever need a particular scene we may already have it.
