Cornwall and Dorset Tourism Awards

The Cornwall, Dorset and Devon Tourism Awards evenings happen through out November. We’ve put in some miles attending each one but its been worth it.  Held at fantastic venues, we get to meet the best in Tourism throughout the region. In Cornwall the setting was the magnificent Truro Cathedral. Its not often you can boast that  you’ve had dinner in such an historic building. For the Cornwall awards we sponsored the Tourism Innovation and New Business category. This category celebrates fabulous new businesses who have a great idea. The winners of the Tourism Innovation category were Cohort Hostel, in St Ives and Cornish Wine Tours, Padstow took the gold for Tourism New Business.

Then next up was the Dorset awards, at the Lighthouse in Poole, where we sponsored the Business  Tourism Venue Award. The Italian Villa, Poole won gold and the evening’s venue (the Lighthouse) silver.  In fact, a record 72 trophies were presented to tourism businesses from across Dorset in an evening of celebrations hosted by guest speaker impressionist Debra Stephenson.

And Finally…Devon Tourism Awards

Finally it was onto Highbullen in North Devon, for the Devon Tourism Awards where we sponsored the Self Catering Accommodation of the year, more on that in a minute. Earlier that same evening,  it was a real pleasure to be asked to pick up an award for our friends at The Duke Of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth. Unfortunately,  because of a raft of other commitments, no-one from the team at “The Duke” was able to attend the gala event, so they asked our Managing Director, Gareth Allen to do the honours, and he was pleased to do so. Congrats to them on their Bronze Award.

Next it was time to present the award in our sponsored category, and our friends at Millbrook Cottages, were shortlisted.  The evening had started amazingly well for them, already picking up gold awards in two other categories, could they make it three out of three? Well of course they did!  It was a real honour to award them with their third gold of the night. It’s a real pleasure to be able to create video marketing content for such a highly regarded tourism business. You can hear Gareth Allen, Soundview’s Managing Director describe the hard work that goes into receiving recognition in the Tourism Awards below:

Well done to all winners and finalists from all the awards this month. It doesn’t end there. In February we’ll head to Bristol where we’ll be sponsoring, the South West Tourism awards. Here the cream of the crop, from across the region, will have everything crossed for making it to prestigious event. Good luck to all our friends and clients, were look forward to seeing you there.
