Here at Soundview we are all about connection. Whether it’s bringing people together through lived experience, breaking down barriers for those affected by adversity or welcoming a fellow creative professional to the Ocean City – just like when immersive artist Cathy Piquemal arrived in Plymouth!
Artist Collaboration
Cathy has worked in the cultural sector for over thirty years, and her specialities include cinema, visual arts, music, theatre and performance. Originally from France and now based in Wales, managing director Gareth Allen connected with Cathy at the highly successful Fulldome UK festival in Cardiff. With hearing loss and neurodivergence herself, Cathy took a keen interest in our Smart Glasses solution and the team had the pleasure of meeting her in person for a short introduction to the facilities on offer in Plymouth.
An immersive arts enthusiast cannot visit Plymouth without a trip to Europe’s largest immersive dome, so the Market Hall in Devonport was our first stop. Gary Futcher was on hand to show us the old favourites such as rainbow borealis and follow the water as well as a whistle stop tour of the building itself. Another staple of Plymouth and a frequent collaborator of ours, we visited The Box Museum shortly afterwards.

Cathy bids us adieu us with a short reflection on her time here in Plymouth:
“So much can happen in just two days. The inspiration and ideas from my visit with Gareth, Ceri, and Chris from Soundview Media and Includiverse, along with the remarkable experiences at Real Immersive, underpinned by the essential work of Real Ideas, have been profound. As a new Plymouth convert, I was also unexpectedly struck by the many parallels between this vibrant city and my hometown of Marseille. The generous welcome I received defined my stay and offered invaluable clues for future explorations toward enhancing accessibility and inclusion. There is so much to unpack yet, and the insights gained will, I know, inform how we can foster better connections among individuals and transcend barriers, while contributing to the collaborative spirit that we mutually inspired along the way.”
The Includiverse team would like to extend our thanks to Cathy for taking such a keen interest in our project and brightening up the gloomy British weather. Cathy has taken a camera all the way to Marseilles – we can’t wait to see the incredible shots she comes back with!
